About this site

Music is an important part of Christian worship. As music leaders we select and prepare songs for worship every week. For each song we should be prepared to answer the question "Why is it included in Worship?" What does this song have to teach us? How is it related to a Biblical truth or concept?

Redeeming Love

Little Johnny's Sunday School class would memorize a bible verse each
week. But Johnny did not have a very good memory. He could never
remember the previous week's verse. Then one day the teacher said.
"Johnny, I want you to memorize part of 1 John 4:8, 'God is love.'"

Johnny was so excited. Only three words, he could hardly wait until
the next Sunday to say, "God is love," and receive a little star. The
following Sunday came and Johnny waited his turn. Finally the teacher
called on him and without hesitating, Johnny said, "Is God love?"

The other children laughed as the teacher frowned and shook her head.
This was Johnny's introduction to God's love!

He asks a good question...How do we know God loves us...How do we know
God is Love? We know by looking at Jesus. He did not have to redeem
us, but love stood up in the midst of heaven and said, "I will go!" He
gave up the glory of heaven, the worship of angels, to come to this
sin filled earth because he loves us. For the first time in eternity
the God of love, would feel pain. All because of His love for us!
