About this site

Music is an important part of Christian worship. As music leaders we select and prepare songs for worship every week. For each song we should be prepared to answer the question "Why is it included in Worship?" What does this song have to teach us? How is it related to a Biblical truth or concept?

Somebody's Knocking at Your Door

Re 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

Just what is God knocking on? This part of Revelation was written to a group of Christians that was rich and self-satisfied but lacked Christ's presence. Material possessions (money, security) - can be dangerous, their temporary satisfaction can make us indifferent to God's offer of lasting peace. This is what he in knocking on....this is what he is trying to get us to swing out of the way. He wants us to remove the obstacles that get in the way of our relationship with him. In today/'s scripture (Luke 7:36-50) Jesus' host, a rich church leader, neglected to greet Christ properly when he came to his door. He needed to be reminded that he needs forgiveness as much as those he was raised to look down upon.
