About this site

Music is an important part of Christian worship. As music leaders we select and prepare songs for worship every week. For each song we should be prepared to answer the question "Why is it included in Worship?" What does this song have to teach us? How is it related to a Biblical truth or concept?

Beautiful Savior

Beautiful Savior
arranged by Robert W. Thygerson

"Beautiful Savor" or "Fairest Lord Jesus" is one of the oldest songs in our hymnal. It first appeared in print in 1677 but is probably much older than that. It has lasted centuries because is beautifully expresses a theme found throughout the Bible. Jesus, this man that walked the earth, is God. He has a place above everything in the created world and is therefore worthy of our praise and worship.

In Colossians 1 there is a passage about the supremacy of Christ that begins with...(Col 1:15) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. In Revelation 5 all creation is around the throne singing (Rev 5:13)...“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
