About this site

Music is an important part of Christian worship. As music leaders we select and prepare songs for worship every week. For each song we should be prepared to answer the question "Why is it included in Worship?" What does this song have to teach us? How is it related to a Biblical truth or concept?

Above the Hills of Time

Above the Hills of Time
arranged by Carl Strommen
satb with flute 1990 CPP/Belwin

Many churches today regularly use video clips as part of Sunday morning worship. We tend to think of this as a new thing that has come-along the the last few years. But, more than 100 years ago Thomas Tiplady, a Methodist preacher, pioneered the use of films in evangelism. He was ahead of his time. Pastor Tiplady also wrote the words to this song about the timelessness of Jesus sacrifice on the cross.

Hebrews 10:12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. 13 Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, 14 because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
