In Matthew 11:3 John the Baptist, then in prison, sends his disciples to ask Jesus "Are you the one ... or should we expect someone else?" Like all Jews of his time John was expecting a Messiah who would deal harshly with their oppressors and with sinners. Jesus had dinner with them. We can all be like John the Baptist at times. Questioning if Jesus really is the answer when he does not "live-up-to" our expectations. When we look for a problem solver instead of a relationship.
This anthem combines two familiar songs. "Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God" and "Jesus is the Answer". When I first heard it I thought the arranger had put these two songs together only because harmonically they fit. You can sing them at the same time and it sounds good. But, there is more to it than that. "Jesus is the Answer" but we might not see that if we are looking for what we think God should be instead of first seeking God's will.
