Consecration Medley (Have Thine Own Way Lord/Cleanse Me/Break Me, Lord)
Arranged by Russell Mauldin
Arranged by Russell Mauldin
In Jeremiah 18 God sends the prophet Jeremiah to watch a potter at work.
Jeremiah 18:4 (NIV) But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
The word translated as marred here is Shachath (shaw-khath') it is often translated as corrupt. There is something in the clay that is ... well,.not clay ... some corruption or impurity. So what would a potter do in this case? Throw away the clay? No, he carefully removes the corruption, the impurity and shapes the clay again. This cycle continues until all of the shachath is removed, and the clay is shaped into the form the potter has chosen. In Jeremiah 18:6 (NIV) the Lord says "Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel."
He removes shachath and starts over as many times as it takes.
This medley is part of Brentwood Benson's collection "Ready to Sing, Platinum Edition"

"Thou art the Potter, I am the clay. Mold me and make me after Thy will...")
